We have good news to report about the San Antonio real estate market! Seems that property values in Comal County are bucking the national trend and are actually climbing!
The average single family home now sells for
$225,626 - up from $208,628 a year ago and $187,312 in 2005. And
although home sales have slowed a bit (January -August 2007 sales
were 955 single family units, as compared to 1,044 for the
January-August period in 2006), homes are now on the market for less
time than they were at the height of the real estate boom in 2005.
On average, a home sells a whole week faster than it did 2 years ago. Perhaps the rest of the country is beginning to recognize what a great bargain this area is - since $225,000 won't even get you a studio apartment in New York, San Francisco, or Washington, DC.
In case you were wondering, the picture inset is of the Gruene Mansion Inn, located in New Braunfelds Texas. New Braunfelds is a sleepy town between Austin and San Antonio with many historic buildings. The Gruene Mansion Inn is a beautiful Texas Bed and Breakfast listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated a Texas Historic Landmark.
