This week was pretty exciting for our team. First, we were featured on MSNBC for KXAN's story on mobile marketing in real estate. Then, we learned Keller Williams Realty will likely write about the use of mobile technology in small business in an upcoming article for their national magazine, Outfront.
In the middle of all this, I've been working on a project in Rough Hollow, a wonderful new construction community in Lakeway that is our spotlight community for the week.
THE SKINNY ON LAKE AREAS IN AUSTIN
The past few years was a tough time for many lake home areas. While the rest of Austin was in a seller's market, Lakeway and other lake communities had cooled. Fast forward to 2007, where I
admit that I was out of the loop on new construction in Lakeway because my
investors were doing infill development in East, Central, and South
Austin.
Since Bee Creek Road will connect Lakeway to major access roads,
developments like The Highlands and Rough Hollow will see a spur in interested buyers.
ROUGH HOLLOW COMMUNITY AMENITIES
Rough Hollow is a luxury waterfront community on popular Lake Travis. Rough Hollow Lakeway will have 350 homes with lots ranging from 60ft to 100.
All lots have breathtaking view of the Austin hill country. The Rough Hollow Harbor Yacht Club is the best community amenity by far and beats similar luxury communities like Arbo Lago and Costa Bella. The Harbor Yacht Club will include:
- A clubhouse.
- Concierge and valet services.
- A resort-style pool, coffee bar and deli.
- A tram to the marina as well as a yacht store. The marina will have 13 docks with monthly premiums to maintain your boat.
Other amenities include the ability to golf at 8 local golf clubs, access to 16 tennis courts, and scuba diving in Lake Travis.
2008 ROUGH HOLLOW PARADE OF HOMES
I took a short 25-minute ride to Rough Hollow Lakeway this past weekend. Glenn Reynolds of Cool River Custom Homes filled me in on the 2008 Rough Hollow Parade of Homes. The Parade of Homes is a city-wide event sponsored by the Home Builder's Association. Turnout is typically between 15,000 and 20,000.
The Parade of Homes is held twice each year. The first in 2008 is at the Water's Edge section in April. The October/Fall Rough Hollow Parade of Homes will have a unique twist because participating luxury homes in The Bluffs section will be rated 5-star green and Gold LEED.
If you know anything about luxury homes or green homes, you realize that it's tough to combine luxury and green. Tall windows and ceilings alone typically prevent luxury homes from achieving the coveted 5-star green rating. It will be interested to see how the fall builders incorporate energy-saving technology and environmentally-friendly construction into their luxury homes, which will start above $1M.
