It seems like every time we open a newspaper or magazine, Austin is being ranked among the “best” of something. This time, Salary.com has named Austin the 13th out of 69 cities in America for building wealth. Texas was well-represented in the survey, with Plano earning the #1 spot!
Factors considered in the survey included local salaries, the cost of living and unemployment rates relative to the national average. It also considered diversity of industry, the education level of each city's population, proximity to post-secondary institutions, the percentage of residents below the poverty level and median commuting time.
Considering Austin’s relatively affordable real estate market, growing population of recent college graduates, and abundance of job opportunities, it’s no wonder we ranked among the best of the bunch!
I agree, with the way things look right now I feel we should rank much higher
